Christmas fun
I got this itch to make a gingerbread house with the kids this year. I've made them out of graham crackers before, but I wanted the real thing this time. I pulled up a recipe off the internet and went to work. Less than half way through mixing and kneading the dough, I was wishing I just forked out the $10 and bought a gingerbread house kit. It was a work out, (at least for me, these days). I cut out the measurements from cardboard, cut out the dough, the whole shebang!! First you bake all the pieces, then you can put the front, back and sides together, wait an hour, then you can put the roof on.Then you let that sit for at least 8 hours, so overnight. The next day you put the chimney together and let that settle, and finally you can decorate it. It was quite the process. But it was fun to decorate it. I know the kids had fun. Jonah mainly ate the candy, but he did help a little. We may make this a tradition, but I just might get the kit next time. So here is our masterpiece...
