Each pregnancy I have had this ridiculous pain in my pelvic/groin area. This pregnancy it came way earlier than my others. The way I describe it is I can't roll over in bed unless my legs are together or I use all my upper body strength to sit up and gently switch sides. Crossing my legs has to be done by me picking up my leg and moving it with my arm strength. Getting in and out of cars is excruciating, and so is sitting up or sitting down. Putting on pants, forget it, you might as well rip my joints apart...so this must be done sitting down. Basically any simple task feels painful. Before I get up, I feel like I have to pop my hips. Once I am up I hear popping and feel grinding as I walk (I mean waddle). The first 30 steps or so have to be small strides and I have to walk really slow. It feels like my pelvic bones are separating, or more like ripping apart. It even makes me feel bruised in that whole area, kinda like I wore really tight underwear and the elastic around my legs left bruises...haha, really nice description, huh:). Anyway, the pain is always there, sometimes worse than others. Lately, as the baby has been growing a lot, it's gotten worse. This past week, especially at night I've been in tears over it. Tonight was an all out balling-like-a baby-cry, and so I had had it. I made two purchases that together I could have bought my new baby swing with! I hate spending money on stupid things, but I'm so desperate and I am really hoping these two things will help!
First Item: Pregnancy belt
No, I won't be wearing a body suit around town, but I will be putting that bulky belt on under my clothes! It doesn't look comfortable as far as thickness, but I'm hoping it will help take some of the pressure off, and save me from manually holding my big belly up as I walk around. It's supposed to help stabilize the pelvic ring, help leg circulation, and help with sciatic nerve pain. Sounds good to me, now it BETTER work!
Second Item: Body Pregnancy PillowI've always wanted one of these with each pregnancy. I'm currently using two pillows to support me at night, but it just doesn't work well. I am hoping this will better support me and allow me to sleep a little better at night.
The pain I described above, I finally found some people online that actually relate to it. Usually when I describe this to people, they either relate to some of the symptoms or give that looks like, "I'm sorry, sucks to be you." So after reviewing all the symptoms a few sights listed, I diagnosed myself with symphysis pubis dysfunction. Has anyone else had symptoms like this? What did you do about it? Luckily in most cases the pain goes away once you deliver your baby. For me it has always gone away, so I hope it does this time around too! Meanwhile I hope these two over-priced items will save me a bit!
So sorry. I hope these help. I know the body pillow was a life saver for me. Hang in there. Love you. Welcome to 99 days until your due date. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was pregnant with Kellen my SI joint got stuck (it's a joint in the hips, that is a main factor to them spreading) I could NOT walk at ALL! My Dr. Ordered physical therapy, wich was really nice, and things got a lot better. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I was getting so big that they started to worrie about those SI joints getting stuck again. So the gave me one of those belts. When you first put it on, it's so nice to have all that extra weight off your hips. But after awhile my belly would not be liking the tightness. But I loved the suport it would give me any way. I think you are really going to like it. If we lived closer to each other I would let you borrow mine, sorry. Hang in there, you can do it.
ReplyDeleteI hope those things help. I felt like NOTHING helped when I was pregnant with Charlie, but then again, I didn't try that belt. It always looked like a gimmick to me, but now I'm curious. Maybe it'll work!
ReplyDeleteWow. That stinks! I remember you saying that with your last pregnancies. You have to post a picture of you wearing that belt... the black body suit would be a nice touch definitely. Bummer you're not getting it. hahaha just kidding! Tell me how the pillow is... I am very curious! I hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteMy friend Lindsey is 7 months pregnant and has had a pain that sounds similar to yours for a few months now she calls it something else but, in non medical terms she calls it extreme groin pain. I'm so sorry!!! That sounds so awful and it must make everything so difficult on top of all the other pregnancy symptoms! Wish there was something I could do for you but, hope that waist support helps!
ReplyDeleteOh man Vanessa that sounds terrible! I've actually had a few of those symptoms while pregnant but nothing like yours! I have a pregnancy pillow and have loved it! Let me know how it all works! Hope you can start feeling better! Hang in there!
